Account Manager / Junior Accountant
Family Office – Multi-Business Portfolio
Position Overview
Very demanding position ideal for someone ambitious and hard working who is willing to commit fully to the role. Significant upward mobility within the organization if you are the "right fit" and a self starter. The work environment is a private family office that manages several operating businesses. This is a very fast moving, entry-level position, offering hands-on exposure to real-world business operations.
The successful candidate will work closely with the principals of the organization—two successful entrepreneurs—as well as with two external contracted CPAs. The environment is dynamic, fast-moving, and varied, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who is organized, adaptable, and eager to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, organize, and process invoices, receipts, and supporting documentation
- Coordinate payment of invoices and track receivables
- Maintain accurate and well-organized financial records across multiple businesses
- Act as a coordination point between the principals and two external CPAs
- Prepare and assemble financial information requested by CPAs
- Assist with insurance applications, renewals, and related documentation
- Support financing and lending applications by gathering required financial materials
- Track deadlines, follow-ups, and outstanding items
Real Estate Portfolio Support
- Assist in the administration of an extensive real estate portfolio across Ontario and Quebec
- Prepare, update, and review rent rolls for accuracy and completeness
- Track lease terms, renewals, and rent escalation dates
- Prepare and send rent increase notices in accordance with applicable lease terms
- Perform basic data entry, filing, and clerical accounting tasks
- Provide general administrative support related to accounting and finance
- Occasional site visits in the Capital Region
Qualifications & Skills
- University degree in Accounting, STEM, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Native-level English (spoken and written)
- French language skills would be a strong asset
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Clear, professional communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic accounting software
Additional Assets
- Access to a personal vehicle would be helpful for the role
- Prior clerical, bookkeeping, or administrative experience is an asset but not required
Compensation & Growth
- Hourly wage: $25/hour
- Guaranteed 30 hours per week to start
