  • βœ” Currently enrolled as a student at a Canadian post-secondary institution or technical bootcamp
  • βœ” New graduates - Within 6 months of your graduation date

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field

What the job involves

  • At Wealthsimple, we offer 4 to 8-month internships that are open to co-op and non-co-op students, and recent grads
  • During your internship, you will have the opportunity to contribute to projects that are changing the landscape of financial services for Canadians
  • You will be on a team that supports your growth, provides mentorship, and connects you to the broader Wealthsimple community!
  • Reporting to the Manager, Brokerage Finance, the successful candidate will build and shape Wealthsimple’s Treasury initiatives and support the broader product launches. This is a 4-month term that will run from May 11 - August 28
  • Support month-end close activities for our brokerage entities by preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with daily and monthly reconciliations across brokerage cash, securities, and crypto inventory, investigating and resolving breaks in partnership with Operations and other Finance teams
  • Ad hoc reconciliation of other accounts such as cash and collateral
  • Assist with variance analysis and management reporting by extracting data, performing reconciliations, and summarizing key drivers of changes in brokerage revenue, expenses, and capital + liquidity metrics (e.g., RAC / excess working capital)
  • Assist with capital & liquidity forecast updates and provide commentary + analysis on cash movements, changes in liquidity position, etc
  • Participate in documenting and updating process notes, controls, and standard operating procedures, with a focus on making workflows clearer and more efficient
  • Support ad hoc projects and process improvement initiatives (for example, automation, new product launches, and reporting enhancements) that help the team scale while maintaining strong controls
  • Learn about the fintech and brokerage industry and how to analyze and interpret financial and operational data in a fast-evolving, technology-driven environment
  • Use AI to improve business workflows, and reporting while finding new ways to adopt AI elsewhere
