Our Marine organization is a trusted provider of innovative solutions for the worldwide boating and boat building industry, and we recently expanded our scope to lead the boating industry into an electrified future. Dometic has won numerous NMMA Innovation Awards over the years, and we are always striving for new ways to make boating easier, safer, and more enjoyable.

We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Co-op - Continuous Improvement Student. This position reports to Operations Manager and will work in Vancouver, B.C.

**Please note that this position is open to current students enrolled in a Canadian accredited university and co-op program.

Vancouver:

Dometic Marine’s headquarters are in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. The facility develops and manufactures hydraulic, electronic, and combustion-based products.

As Co-op - Continuous Improvement Student on the Vancouver team, you will be involved in a wide variety of tasks supporting administrative, engineering, and technical staff throughout the facility.

General Responsibilities

  • Review operations performance data (e.g. labour productivity, variable overhead costs, first pass yield) to determine areas requiring improvement; consult with Manager and Supervisors to determine potential improvement activities.
  • Analyze areas needing improvement and determine potential solutions.
  • Supervise improvement projects, monitor and report on projects status; ensure process improvement projects are implemented on time.
  • Work with Manager and Supervisors to implement and maintain Standardized Work; conduct time studies and optimize line balance.
  • Analyze and optimize flow of material in the plant; create, update and maintain plant layout drawings.
  • Develop and implement solutions based on Lean Six Sigma including tools such as 5S, Kanban, VSM, Kaizen and PFMEA.
  • Work closely with Supervisors daily to implement solutions to operational issues: e.g., health and safety, quality and output.
  • Involved with new product launches.

Skills & Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role will have acquired the following qualifications and experiences:

  • Minimum technical diploma, engineering degree preferred, in an applicable engineering technology field, e.g., Industrial, Manufacturing or Process Engineering.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Experience with Lean/Continuous Improvement/Operational Excellence.

  • Strong proficiency with MS Office programs including: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint; and, the ability to learn other applications quickly.
  • Knowledge and experience working in CAD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
