Full Description

Start your CPA journey by working directly with the people behind the numbers. As a CPA Articling Student – Private Company Audit and Assurance (January 2027), you’ll work with private businesses and NPOs and see firsthand how your work helps clients understand their financial picture. You’ll gain well‑rounded exposure across audits, reviews, compilations, tax filings, and year‑end engagements, all within a supportive, mentorship‑first environment.

At Manning Elliott, you’re more than a staff number — you’re a valued part of a collaborative, people-first firm.

About Manning Elliott At Manning Elliott, we believe in the power of people. We’re a team of professionals dedicated to providing exceptional accounting, assurance, tax and advisory services, while building lasting relationships with our clients and within our communities. Our culture is built on collaboration, continuous learning, and making a positive impact — for our clients, our people, and the communities we serve.

If you’re looking for a place where you can grow your skills, work with supportive teammates, and build real relationships with clients, you’ll feel at home here.

The Role As a CPA Articling Student in our Private Company group, you’ll build the core skills that set you up for long-term success in public practice. You’ll work with a mix of owner‑managed businesses and not‑for‑profit organizations, giving you exposure to real financial stories and the people behind them. Your work will span audits, reviews, compilations, and year‑end engagements, and you’ll learn how each component fits together to support clients in understanding and managing their operations.

Throughout your journey, you’ll be supported by seniors, managers, and partners who take the time to teach, guide, and help you grow into a trusted advisor — one step at a time.

Student opportunities for the Pre-Approved External Audit Path in our Private Company group are available starting January 2027. What You'll Do

  • Work as a core team member on audit, review and compilation engagements for private companies and NPO's.
  • Assist with year-end financial statements and related notes for a variety of private businesses and not-for-profit organizations.
  • Gain exposure to a variety of corporate, personal, and other tax filings, building practical experience that compliments your year-end work.

  • Participate in client calls or meetings, seeing how partners and managers guide clients and NPO leaders through their financial information..
  • Build a broad understanding of how the entire engagement fits together, from planning to file completion.
  • Collaborate closely with your team, ask questions often, and participate in debriefs and coaching conversations so you’re always learning.
  • Stay organized and manage your tasks so you can meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Participate in firm-wide initiatives, training, and our Team Development and Performance Management Program.

What You Bring

  • An undergraduate degree (completed or in progress) that meets the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) prerequisites.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and a willingness to ask questions when you're unsure.
