Position Summary

The Junior Accountant supports the finance team by performing daily accounting tasks, ensuring accurate financial records, and assisting with month-end and year-end processes. This role is ideal for individuals early in their accounting career who have strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Reporting

  • Record journal entries into the ERP
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and other accounts
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports

Day-to-Day Accounts Receivable and Payables and Payroll

  • Assist with invoicing, cancel or update orders, issue credits, print statement, respond to customer inquiries.
  • Confirm and apply customer EFT payments.
  • Maintain vendor cards, review payment journals and enter payments on the bank
  • Approve and process non-inventory invoices
  • Track attendance in excel, verify hours in TimeForce, calculate other payroll amounts, transfer payroll amounts inter-company.

Compliance & Controls

  • Support internal control procedures and ensure adherence to accounting standards
  • Assist with external audits by preparing required documentation
  • Help ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations and reporting deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

  • A BBA or B.Com. degree with an accounting focus is considered an asset.
  • High level of proficiency with excel (formulas, pivot tables, V-Lookup, etc.)
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work to timelines.
  • Experience with an ERP system considered an asset.
  • Experience with IFRS considered an asset.
  • A positive can-do attitude is essential!
