We are currently seeking a qualified individual for the following opportunity in our Vancouver office.
Financial Analyst / Junior Underwriter, Co-Op Contract Surety
Vancouver - Summer 2026 Term
The successful co-op student will be responsible within a team, to assess the financial position and creditworthiness of contractor clients and provide recommendations to senior management. The successful student will be passionate, and results oriented with the capability to build upon and foster relationships with our clients.
As an integral member of the team, you will bring
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with financial statement analysis, financial modeling and valuation.
- Solid computer skills; including extensive experience with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work within a team environment.
- Demonstrated integrity and enthusiasm.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Proven ability to organize and complete work within tight deadlines.
Accountabilities
- Prepare company research and analysis, prepare reports for management; make written recommendations
- Interface as necessary with clients for underwriting issues
- Conduct financial modeling to determine performance and assess risk
- Analyze financial strength and positions of current and new business
- Participate in ongoing client meetings and conference calls
Qualifications
- Bachelor/BBA/BCom or related degree program with Accounting, Finance, or Economics concentration.
- Interest in pursuing CMA/CPA an asset.
- Previous experience in finance or banking industry is a definite asset.
Compensation
- The expected compensation in this position is within the range of $25.00 - $30.00 / Hour
