Are you a people-focused, highly organized post-secondary student looking to gain hands-on experience in human resources? We’re seeking an HR Assistant Co-op Student to join our team and support a wide range of HR activities throughout the work term.

In this role, you’ll work closely with HR professionals, contribute to meaningful projects, and build real-world skills that will help launch your career in human resources.

Summary:

The Human Resources Assistant provides day-to-day administrative and operational support to the HR team across our Barrie and Bradford locations. This role helps ensure efficient HR processes, promotes a positive employee experience, and supports a wide range of functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee files, training coordination, HRIS updates, and general employee inquiries.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and enjoys supporting employees and leaders in a fast-paced environment.

Job Duties:

  • Assist with job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, and reference checks.
  • Assist in the preparation of offer letters, new hire packages, and onboarding documentation.
  • Assist in the coordination of orientation sessions and ensure a smooth new hire experience.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential employee files in accordance with company policies and privacy requirements.
  • Update HRIS and tracking spreadsheets (attendance, training, certifications, performance documents, etc.).
  • Serve as a friendly, approachable first point of contact for general HR questions.
  • Assist with scheduling meetings, preparing HR communication materials, and supporting engagement initiatives.
  • Support policy implementation by helping distribute materials and ensuring employees have the information they need.
  • Support with the coordination of training sessions, track completion through HRIS.
  • Support Joint Health & Safety Committee activities by maintaining documentation and assisting with safety initiatives

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (CHRP designation or coursework an asset).
  • 1–2 years of HR or administrative experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams); experience with HRIS systems is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between sites.
