OVERVIEW
Reporting to Senior Director, IT Operations & Desktop Application Support the IT Help Desk Support Intern is responsible for supporting the Help Desk team solve a variety of reactive and proactive IT issues.
This intern position position requires working in our Toronto, Ontario office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ticket Management β field, triage, and prioritize all incoming problem tickets from end users at the same time documenting all pertinent end-user identification information, including name, department, contact information, and nature of problem or issue.
- Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, and installing hardware as required.
- Record, track, and document the problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution.
- Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
- Communicate application problems and issues to key stakeholders, including management, development teams, and end users.
- Test fixes and perform post-resolution follow-ups to ensure problems have been adequately resolved.
- Maintain and enhance performance of all new and existing software and applications across the organization.
- Identify and learn appropriate software applications used and supported by the organization.
- Participate in departmental application training needs and objectives.
- Participate in the design, development, and delivery of software applications training programs and individual classes.
- Post software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on company intranet to assist in problem resolution aiming for continuous improvement.
- Project support and coordination for various IT projects as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Currently enrolled in a post secondary Information Technology or Information Systems program.
Experience
- Tech savvy, with experience working in a tech-related field.
- Hands-on knowledge of and experience with enterprise and desktop applications, including MS Office Suite, SAP Client Software, and Adobe Products.
Knowledge/Competencies/Skills
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Comprehensive knowledge of computer systems and experience troubleshooting hardware and software.

- Basic networking concepts: DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN
- How endpoints work in a managed environment
- Identity and access basics (AD, Entra ID, SSO, MFA)
- Core security principles like least privilege and phishing awareness

Cloud fundamentals (M365, Azure or AWS at a high level)

Able to break down technological processes and deliver clear, step-by-step instructions.
- Patient, friendly demeanor with a great aptitude for listening.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
- Passion for problem-solving and customer service.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve a variety of technical issues.
- Team-oriented mindset with an openness to constructive feedback.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- All CM employees work 40 hours per week, with this role covering various shifts between 7 AM and 9 PM ET, including weekend shifts when required.
- The job demands a flexible work schedule with periods of uneven workload.
- This position is hybrid, working remotely from a home office environment and working as needed in the Toronto head office.
- The incumbent must attend in-person meetings when requested, based on EPMO schedules or job demands.
- The incumbent must also have a tolerance for change as Circular Materials implements its new program obligations.
PAY TRANSPARENCY
Expected Compensation:
- A salary of $14,700 for the 4-month term.
- The salary listed complies with the Ontario Employment Standards Act and reflects working full-time hours.
