Job Type: Full-time Permanent
Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per annum
We are seeking a motivated Junior Automation Engineer to support the design, development, and maintenance of automation systems in our production environment. The role will focus on supporting the implementation of automation solutions, troubleshooting equipment, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve efficiency, quality, and safety. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience and grow within a dynamic engineering team.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Assist in the design, programming, testing, and deployment of automated systems, including robotics, PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems.
- Obtain knowledge and experience with engineering principles and procedures that apply to machine design, part handling, robotic end-of-arm-tool design, semi-automated work cell layout, robotic work cell layout, control systems, vision systems, motion control, process flow, operator ergonomics, and machine aesthetics.
- Support troubleshooting, debugging, and root cause analysis of automated machinery.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, technicians, and production teams to implement continuous process improvements.
- Document automation processes, equipment manuals, standard operation procedures and technical reports.
- Perform routine maintenance and monitoring of automation systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Participate in installation and commissioning of new automated equipment.
- Involve in electrical design β components selection and prepare schematics.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualification
- Bachelorβs degree (or college diploma) in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or related field.
- 0β2 years of relevant experience in automation, robotics, or industrial controls (internship/co-op experience considered an asset).
- Basic knowledge of PLC programming.
- Familiarity with CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
- Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
- Must have the ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines and fast-changing workload.
- Strong team player and excellent people skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.
