Type: Internal & External – Full-Time (Indeterminate)- - Subject to recall as per article 13.5 of the Collective Agreement

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week; Day (Monday through Friday ; 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

Compensation: $25.95/hr, (Wage grid level#10; it's currently under classification review)

Program & Location: Atira's head office, Downtown Eastside, Vancouver; Please note that this position is fully office-based. The successful candidate will be required to work on-site, and hybrid or remote work arrangements are not applicable

Union: BC Government Employee’s Union (BCGEU) - This position requires union membership

About The Job Reporting to the Intermediate accountant , the Junior Accountant provides foundational accounting support for the finance team at Atira Women’s Resource Society and its affiliated entities. This role assists with day-to-day accounting activities including transaction processing, rent revenue tracking for residential programs, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records. The Junior Accountant works under the guidance of the Intermediate Accountant to ensure timely and accurate processing of accounting transactions and support financial reporting requirements.

The program provides services to Indigenous women and children (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit). To ensure residents receive culturally safe, trauma-informed, and community-rooted support, this role requires staff who have lived experience and a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and ways of being. Additional Requisites/Assets

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum two (2) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Technologically literate including proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, and comfort working with digital systems and electronic documents in a fast‑paced office environment.
  • Experience with accounting software
  • Covid-19 (including booster) & flu vaccinations are recommended
