Black Diamond Group’s Corporate Accounting department has a full-time position for Junior Accountant .

This role is hybrid - in-office with 20% flexibility to work from home.

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this role is part of the corporate accounting team and typically performs a variety of accounting functions such as data entry, maintaining the general ledger, and performing month end reconciliations. This position will work closely with others within the corporate accounting team. The appropriate candidate for this role will be a meticulous person with a solid understanding of accounting principles, who enjoys working in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare month end journal entries including and not limited to corporate cost accruals, insurance expense, concur expense, credit card transactions, and prepare respective working papers.
  • Prepare monthly elimination entries for intercompany transactions in the income statement and Balance sheet.
  • Prepare period end lead sheets for Prepaid and Deferred Revenue.
  • Monitor prepaid and deferred revenue amortization and perform monthly reconciliations.
  • Assist in preparing insurance expense allocation to Business units.
  • Reconcile general ledgers and maintain proper working paper for review and record keeping.
  • Assist with providing documents for financial and tax audits.
  • Assist in the successful implementation of a new ERP system by validating financial data and figures prior to go-live.
  • Provide accounting support for Corporate Reporting team.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary business degree or diploma in accounting
  • 2 years or more of accounting experience
  • Intermediate skill using excel
  • Experience with SAP/NetSuite – an asset
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of professional interaction with various levels of operations and other departments
  • Strong analytical skills and takes initiatives to solve problems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Works well under pressure with multiple concurrent deadlines
  • Must be fluent in English both oral and written
