WHAT'S THE JOB?ASPECT Structural Engineers is in search of a Junior Accountant (Accounts Receivable & Billing) to join our global team. The role is a 12-18-month maternity leave coverage contract. This role reports to the Controller and is based in Vancouver, BC.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Ensure invoices are issued accurately and within defined billing timelines. You will prepare pre-billing reports for project manager review, and work with them and the controller to create and distribute invoices to our clients that reflect work performed in the previous month.
- Proactively manage receivables and collections, including consistent follow-up on overdue accounts, working with PMs to resolve billing issues, and driving timely cash collection. Creation of project AR reports to keep engineering teams informed with the state of accounts receivable. Communicate actively with clients by sending reminders and statements, following up with overdue accounts, and answering any billing-related inquiries.
- Financial management of projects, which includes but is not limited to supporting with project setup, data maintenance, and project closure.
- Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations, recurring journal entries as part of the month-end close, and prepare consolidated balance sheet schedules for review
- Assist with year-end file preparation, including reconciliations and supporting documentation.
- Provide administrative, financial, and operational support to other departments, including Marketing, Production, IT and HR.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial information is available for decision-making.
- Ad-hoc tasks as requested by the Controller or Director of Finance.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Enrolled or planning to pursue a CPA would be an asset, but not essential
- Min 1-3 years of relevant work experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles
- Results oriented with the strong ability to set goals, create/implement action plans and monitor progress towards goals
- Strong time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills
- High level of computer literacy including intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office Suite. i.e.: Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, as well as Accounting reporting software: QuickBooks, Power BI, or CMap (Project management system)
- Cooperative team player who works with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions to enhance organizational effectiveness
- High attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction
- Excellent business acumen, customer service, and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong ability to build relationships with management and team members
- Possess a growth mindset i.e.: learn new things, adapt to change
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment

COMPENSATION PACKAGE:
- Base Salary CAD $55,000 – $65,000 prorated monthly (will be commensurate with skillset and experience)
