Junior Accountant
Reports to: Senior Accountant
Job Overview:
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Coordinator is responsible for managing the company's financial transactions related to incoming and outgoing payments. This role involves maintaining accurate records, ensuring timely processing of invoices, and managing account reconciliations. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Accounts Payable:
- Monitoring of the accounting email inbox.
- Review, verify, and process invoices and expense reports for payment including the tracking of staff mileage.
- Assist with matching purchase orders with invoices and reconcile discrepancies.
- Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments including verification of WCB.
- Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date.
- Maintain vendor files and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist with preparing and submitting credit applications.
- Communicate with vendors regarding payment status and resolve any issues.
- Assist with the preparation of the monthly credit card reconciliation.
2.Accounts Receivable Processing:
- Work with the housing team to ensure deposits are applied correctly to resident ledgers.
- Prepare and deposit e-transfers and cheque payments.
- Deposit donation cheques and issue donation receipts.
- Deposit miscellaneous cheques.
- Investigation of rent applications to ensure accuracy of postings.
3.Other
- Ad hoc projects as requested
Skills and Qualifications
Qualifications / Prior Experience:
- Post-secondary certificate in accounting
- Confident user of the Microsoft Office Suite of products, with intermediate skills in Excel.
- Experience with Yardi Property Management Software and Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate (formerly Timberline) is beneficial but not required.
