Teaming up with inspHIRED Talent Solutions to hire a Junior Accountant.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in midtown Toronto, ON, for a Junior Accountant. The Junior Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the general accounting function including the computerized general ledger system, monthly journal entries and draft financial and statutory reporting for both the XX Office and the XXXX Fund. Provides support to the Accounting Manager and CFO in the implementation and administration of financial initiatives that cover financial reporting, planning, budgeting and value-added analysis to support the Company’s strategic objectives and shareholder relations.
Accounting and Finance
- Prepare accounts payable and cheques/wires for all entities.
- Post cash receipts and accounts receivable for all entities.
- Monitor daily and monthly bank balances across > 60 bank accounts
- Prepare over 60 bank reconciliations on a monthly basis.
- Prepare and post all general journal entries including foreign exchange transactions and fair value adjustments for 50+ entities.
- Monthly and quarterly closings and compliance reporting.
- Assist the Accounting Manager in preparing annual audit working paper files and draft financial statements for all companies.
- Prepare regulatory filings like GST/HST returns for all registered companies.
- Work closely with the Accounting Manager to monitor the cash needs of shareholders.
- Special projects and analysis as requested.
Tax
- Assist the Accounting Manager in preparing the initial corporate tax returns and partnership returns for the Canadian entities.
- Assist with US compliance reporting, including filing of federal and state extensions.
Administrative
- Relief for Executive Assistant when unavailable.
- Special projects as required.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Impeccable character references.
- Computer literacy preferably MS Office, ERP systems, and Tax Prep.
- Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize multiple requests efficiently.
- Superior time management skills with the ability to work in an environment with changing demands (work environment shifts quickly from low volume to high volume).
- A team player with the ability to work independently and think proactively.
- Must be accustomed to work that is highly confidential.
- At least three years of experience in a corporate business environment.
- Working towards an accounting designation will be seen as an asset.
