Position Information The Accounts Receivable Junior Financial Analyst will assist Finance Revenue and Receivables Department with the maintenance and development of the financial operations, reporting, controls and analytics of the Ottawa Hospital¿s patient billing and collections processes. The primary focus of the position will be self pay accounts. The Junior Analyst serves as the first point of contact and support for both the team and patients. The AR Junior Financial Analyst coaches and supports the staff to ensure delivery of excellent customer service and pro-active follow-up and collection of accounts receivable in order to maximize revenues and minimize bad debt .

Basic Requirements

  • Three (3) year Community College Diploma in Finance, Business Administration or related program (equivalent combination of course work and experience will be considered);
  • Experience working in large and complex organizations;
  • Proficiency in large scale integrated ERP and billing systems (Epic, Oracle);
  • Demonstrated successful experience working with major guarantor files on TOH Revenue and Receivables team, will count as equivalent to minimum education requirements;
  • Sound knowledge of Accounts Receivable policies and procedures;
  • Proficiency in Excel;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint);
  • Strong communication skills enabling clear interpretation of business needs (financial, accounting, BI related);
  • Good conceptual, analytical and systems skills enabling root cause analysis and clear presentation of process and systems issues;
  • Good organizational, time management and task prioritization skills to meet critical deadlines;
  • Excellent documentation skills;
  • Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders and ability to establish good relationships with a variety of people at different levels;
  • Identify and recommend areas for improvement;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Good judgement and initiative in the performance of the day to day responsibilities;
  • Ability to deal with many critical issues at the same time;
  • Eligible to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related program;
  • Healthcare experience and understanding of Hospital activities and organizational structure;
  • Three (3) years’ accounting experience, preferably in a Hospital’s computerized Financial Accounts Receivable environment;
  • Experience working with large computerized hospital billing systems (Epic);
  • Experience with Power BI, Microsoft Access;
  • CPA designation or working towards completion of a professional designation or equivalent experience in finance environment;
  • Proficiency in English and French – oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
