About The Role As ATB’s next Data Scientist you will design, develop and deploy Econometric, Statistical and AI/ML models to analyze data and optimize organizational decision making. Most of your time will be spent working directly with the modeling programs, making model improvements, model adjustments and model re-developments with the remaining time spent on researching industry standard modeling techniques and understanding business processes. Data Scientists at ATB are proactive, driven, adaptable problem solvers, who need to power through interesting challenge after interesting challenge to create value for our clients.

Accountabilities

Role You will be tasked with model development and monitoring over the IFRS9 and Stress Testing Model Suite. As part of this role you will:

  • Design and program methods, processes, and systems to analyze unstructured, diverse “big data” sources, to generate actionable insights and solutions
  • Collaborates with members of data teams to support investigation across a variety of topics
  • Responsible for utilizing a variety of data science techniques - time series modeling, unsupervised learning, supervised learning, and classic regressions to make predictions on financial and customer datasets
  • Build and expand on industry standard model monitoring practices to mitigate model risk
  • Promote a high standard for model documentation and begin bringing outdated documentation up to this current standard
  • Improve Model Development process and streamline end to end process of model implementation
  • Develop credit risk and stress testing models based on industry best practices

Skills, Experience & Requirements

  • Degree in Data Science, Computer Science or related field. Advanced degrees would be considered an asset
  • Working knowledge in one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, C/C++, C, Objective C, Python, JavaScript, SQL, R, SAS
  • Practical experience in data reporting and visualization
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking & problem solving skills
  • Proactive and have a continuous learning mindset
