40-year legacy; mentorship-focused in energy infrastructure

Full Description

Join Juno Engineering Canada and grow your career in industrial electrical engineering. We’re looking for a Junior Electrical Engineer to support brown-field and green-field industrial facility projects across energy and infrastructure sectors. You’ll gain hands-on experience in design, drafting, studies, vendor coordination, and field support while working alongside engineers committed to quality and mentorship.

Position Overview

As a junior engineer at Juno, you’ll support the full life-cycle of electrical deliverables under the guidance of senior and intermediate engineers. You’ll assist with calculations, load studies, equipment sizing, drafting, and technical documentation while working with multidisciplinary teams, vendors, and occasional field assignments. This role is ideal for an early-career professional seeking hands-on project exposure and a strong foundation in industrial electrical design.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Electrical Design and Drafting : Draft and update single-line diagrams, panel layouts, cable and lighting plans, and related drawings in AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Technical Studies and Analysis : Assist with load studies, equipment sizing, power-system modelling, and arc-flash / short-circuit study inputs under senior guidance.
  • Documentation and Project Deliverables : Prepare data sheets, material requisitions, bills of material, technical memos, and drawing mark-ups.
  • Collaboration with Project Teams and Vendors : Participate in model reviews, vendor calls, and multidisciplinary coordination, and help track action items, technical queries, and RFIs.
  • Field Support and Quality : Support site walk-downs, as-found data collection, red-line updates, and application of Juno standards, checklists, and code requirements.

Success in this Position Will Require

  • Attention to Detail : Produce accurate drawings, mark-ups, and documentation while following Juno standards and checklists.
  • Effective Communication : Work well with multidisciplinary teams and write concise emails, meeting notes, and technical summaries.
  • Eagerness to Learn : Seek mentorship, apply feedback, and grow toward E.I.T. registration and broader technical responsibility.
  • Time Management and Ownership : Track tasks, manage priorities, and escalate clashes early.

Required Experience

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a CEAB-accredited institution or equivalent.
  • 0-2 years of industrial electrical experience , including co-op or internship experience, and eligibility for E.I.T. registration with APEGA.
  • Foundational knowledge of low-voltage distribution, motor control, grounding, lighting, and cable sizing.
  • Working competence in AutoCAD and willingness to learn ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, and basic arc-flash / short-circuit calculations.

Desirable Assets

  • Ability to read and mark up P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and vendor data sheets.
  • Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code, IEEE, and CSA standards.
  • Exposure to industrial brown-field or green-field projects through work, co-op, or internship experience.
  • Interest in field assignments, factory-acceptance tests, and multidisciplinary project delivery.

Location and Travel Requirements

This is a Calgary-based role requiring 5 days per week in office. Occasional field trips (up to 10%) to active industrial sites may be required. Candidates must be able to wear required PPE and work safely in industrial environments.

Benefits and Perks

At Juno, we’re committed to supporting early-career engineers as they grow.

We offer:

  • Mentorship from experienced engineers and support as you work toward E.I.T. registration
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive health benefits
  • A collaborative team culture with meaningful industrial project exposure and long-term development
