Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator/Project Manager to join our dynamic precast team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in construction estimating, project coordination, and cost management while contributing to the successful delivery of diverse projects. As a key member of our team, you will assist in preparing accurate project estimates, managing project timelines, and ensuring seamless communication between stakeholders. This job is located in our Qualicum Beachwhere we specialize in casting structural precast for bridges, boat ramps, and retaining walls. We also pre-cast Mechanically Stabilized Earthwalls (MSE), for delivery across British Columbia, Alberta, and Washington State, and we cast our Verti Block Retaining Wall system in this plant.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Deliver detailed construction estimating and job planning support.
- Assist Project Managers with project costing, client communications, purchasing, contract administration, and change management.
- Schedule employees and subcontractors for daily casting and delivery operations to construction sites.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with customers and trades from the office.
- Maintain and update job status and project schedules.
- Prepare take-offs, procure materials and supplies, and organize documentation.
- Organize and manage construction-related expenses including supply and material costs, timesheets, labor costs, equipment costs, and overall project cost management.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers throughout project execution.
Skills
- A minimum of two years of experience in the construction industry is preferred; experience in the concrete sector is an asset.
- A post-secondary education in Civil Technology or Construction Technology is desirable but not mandatory.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting design drawings, specification sheets, manuals, and construction-related documentation.
- Ability to multitask and coordinate effectively with Project Managers.
- Willingness to learn regulatory requirements and construction safety policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with project management software is preferred.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving abstract; comfortable driving a company vehicle if necessary.
- Willingness to travel as required.
Compensation:
Compensation will be commensurate with experience, with this position providing significant opportunities for professional growth and knowledge enhancement. This position will develop into a Project Managers role.
