The position reports to the AVP, Group Technology Financial Controller and is primarily responsible for providing the Group Marketing and other functional team support with financial and management accounting assistance. As a member of the finance team, you will assist with the annual budgeting and forecasting activities, management reporting, project accounting and the development and maintenance of the organization’s key performance metrics.

About the Team

The Finance team plays an important role in supporting Butterfield’s businesses by providing high-quality planning, reporting, regulatory and accounting services. It’s a fast-paced environment with a global remit. Working with colleagues across the Bank, the Finance team provides senior management with the expertise required to measure the Bank’s performance and shape Butterfield’s future plans.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Processing invoices and managing accounts payable for various departments.
  • Reviewing and processing corporate credit cards and marketing expense reimbursements.
  • Preparing, monitoring, and reconciling budgets at a functional, sub-categories and entry levels, and consolidated budgets across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Acting as the financial point of contact for our agency and charity partners and contractual vendors.
  • Preparing the accounting and financial analysis for Sponsorships and Charitable Donations Committee, including processing payments and donations, tracking the running budget and preparing deliverables for credit purposes.
  • Preparing financial analysis of expenses and researching to explain variances.
  • Assisting in the administration of expense management systems.
  • Preparing ad hoc reports and analysis as required.

Your qualifications and skills include:

  • 2+ years’ experience or post-secondary education in Business Administration or related discipline.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with high ethical standards and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates customer service and relationship management skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards and systems and a willingness to continue learning.
  • Currently pursuing, or intention to pursue a Canadian CPA designation preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications (Excel, Word, etc).
