Join us at the First Nations Financial Management Board (FMB), where we support First Nations to strengthen their governance and financial practices. Since our establishment in 2006 under the First Nations Fiscal Management Act, we have been dedicated to providing fully optional tools and services tailored to meet the unique needs of First Nations communities.

This role is an 8-week term position open to youth between the ages of 15-30 as part of the Canada Summer Jobs program.

What You Will Do

  • Supports the maintenance of current records of each client’s certification progress using the FMB’s established client relationship records management system.
  • May be asked to catalogue’s client documents using the FMB’s records management software.
  • Supports client inquiries related to Standards and Certification matters and processes.
  • Supports other team members in the preparation of the necessary material in advance of meetings of the SAC Committee and Board of Directors.
  • May be asked to collect necessary data and prepare regular reports using the FMB’s client relationship management system on the certification status of First Nation clients.
  • May be asked to research and organize information from various sources (such as online resources, reports, and databases) under the guidance of more senior team members.
  • Supports maintaining engagement file documentation in an organized and structured manner, and in accordance with established document management and retention policy.
  • Collaborates with members of other FMB service lines to support organizational initiatives.

Who You Are

  • Completed or currently in Post-Secondary Education in finance or accounting; currently enrolled in the CPA PEP program is an asset.
  • Some experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably in the public or not for profit sector.
  • Understanding of accounting principles.
  • Experience with financial analysis and financial reporting is an asset.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel and knowledge of a document management system considered an asset.
  • Great organizational skills.
  • Experience working with First Nations in a finance or advisory role an asset.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with French language skills.
