We are looking for a full time Junior General Accountant to work out of our head office location in Oakville. This role reports directly to the Assistant Controller and offers a competitive salary, plus full benefits.

About the role:

We are seeking a detail oriented and proactive Junior General Accountant to join our finance team. This role provides broad exposure to accounting functions, with a strong emphasis on accounts payable, reconciliations and general ledger support. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical and eager to develop their skills within a collaborative and fast paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable & Invoice Processing

· Receive, review, and organize electronic vendor invoices; save documentation to appropriate folders for processing.

· Scan and upload paper invoices received via mail.

· Download utility bills and vendor invoices from online portals and ensure timely processing to avoid late payment charges.

· Verify invoice accuracy and follow up on discrepancies.

· Match invoices to purchase orders and enter receipt of goods when required.

· Enter AP transactions into the ERP system and route them through the approval workflow.

· Allocate expenses to the correct general ledger (GL) accounts.

· Maintain accurate electronic and manual filing systems.

Vendor Relations & Payments

· Perform vendor statement reconciliations and respond to inquiries in a timely, professional manner.

· Prepare bi-weekly payment runs, including EFT and cheque batches.

· Save coded EFT remittance slips and send remittances to vendors.

· Review Home Depot, Foss Fuel, and Repair statements; ensure receipts from the field team are coded to the correct job and saved for processing.

General Accounting Support

· Assist with month-end and year-end procedures, including journal entries and GL reconciliations.

· Contribute to ad hoc accounting tasks and projects as needed to support the department.

· Support the Controller with weekly payroll duties, including:

o Entering labour hours in ADP for payroll processing

o Handling union-related remittances

o Preparing and submitting WSIB payments

o Assisting with required payroll documentation and reconciliations

About you:

You are perfect for this role because you have:

· Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or working toward an accounting designation).

· 1–2 years of accounting or AP experience preferred; co-op/internship experience considered.

· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

· Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and comfort working with ERP systems.

· Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset when dealing with vendors and internal staff.
