Full Description
The Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87 invites applications for the position of Temporary Junior IT Helpdesk Technician. The successful candidate is responsible for providing hardware and software support, troubleshooting technical issues, managing helpdesk tickets, and assisting with system updates.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Deliver first-level technical support for hardware, software, and network issues, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication through phone, email, and ticketing systems. Document all incidents and solutions accurately.
- Configure, deploy, and maintain workstations, peripherals, and operating systems.
- Manage device lifecycle, including preparation for disposal or auction as per policy.
- Monitor systems for alerts and assist with routine maintenance, including updates, patches, and backup verification.
- Provide guidance and training to end users on the proper use and configuration of hardware and software.
- Assist with basic printer maintenance, such as clearing jams, replacing toner or parts (drums, containers, etc.), and performing basic troubleshooting of printer issues.
- Maintain and update the inventory of hardware, software and I.T. assets.
- Assist in I.T. projects, such as device rollouts, hardware or system upgrades and software implementations.
- Follow organizational policies, I.T. best practices, and security protocols to ensure the integrity of I.T. systems.
- Provide general administrative and operational support to the I.T. department as required.
- Perform other related duties within the scope of the position as required.
Qualifications:
- A two (2) year College diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field is required; however, relevant work experience or industry certifications may also be considered in place of formal education.
- Experience with ticketing systems and remote support tools.
- A strong understanding of computer operating systems, including MacOS, Windows 11, Windows Server, Linux.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently or in a team, and maintain a professional, customer-focused approach.
- Familiarity with hardware diagnostics and basic troubleshooting of computers and peripherals.
- Experience with configuration and operation of mobile devices (iOS, iPadOS).
- Basic understanding of computer network principles and ability to perform basic troubleshooting of connectivity issues.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 services such as SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Online, and Intune is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license in good standing.
