Job Title: MCASPHALT | Lab Technician – Summer Student
Status: Full-time Temporary Position
Expected Start Date: May 1, 2026

Reporting to: Lab Supervisor

Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated summer student to join our dynamic laboratory team and play an essential role in QA/QC testing for asphalt emulsions in our Canada-wide industry. This position is ideal for students pursuing studies in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related technical fields.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine quality control testing on asphalt emulsions following standardized procedures (e.g., viscosity, sieve tests, residue testing, stability tests).
- Prepare, label, and organize samples for testing and recordkeeping.
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory data sheets and electronic records.
- Assist with calibration, cleaning, and general maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper handling of chemicals and PPE requirements.
- Support laboratory staff with additional testing and project work as required.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a post secondary program in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical/scientific field.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Ability to follow standardized test procedures and work independently once trained.
- Comfortable working in a laboratory environment with chemicals and heated materials.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Previous laboratory experience is an asset but not required—training will be provided.
Shift Information
Day shift (hours may vary depending on facility production schedule)
