Operational Risk Analyst Intern - Summer 2026

The Role

The Operational Risk Analyst Intern supports Albourne’s Operational Due Diligence (ODD) work by reviewing fund documents, financial statements, and service provider information to help identify operational risks at alternative investment managers, while also preparing client deliverables, maintaining internal databases, assisting with data analysis, and contributing to ad hoc projects, including those involving AI tools.

Albourne’s Internship Program gives undergraduate students early exposure to the alternative investment industry through technical training and hands‑on experience alongside industry specialists. The 2026 summer internship period will run from 4 May to 28 August 2026.

Responsibilities

As an Operational Risk Analyst Intern, you will help:

  • Review and interpret alternative investment fund financial statements, offering documents, and other fund literature to create investment recommendations for clients.
  • Liaise with fund service providers to ensure timely receipt of information on the funds. Conduct reference checks with these service providers for completion of the relevant reports.
  • Ensure client deliverables are prepared, reviewed, and delivered on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Ensure information within internal databases is kept up to date and current.
  • Identify and analyze trends in data systematically, leveraging data mining techniques to provide actionable insights.
  • Perform other ad hoc projects from time to time upon request, including projects utilizing AI tools or advanced analytics.

Desired Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, finance, accounting, or computer science-related disciplines to be completed after August 2026
  • Previous aligned internship experience is desirable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams) is required; experience using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot is a strong asset
  • Working towards or planning to pursue a relevant designation (CPA, CFA, CAIA) is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with alternative fund strategies/structures and U.S. GAAP accounting is considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of data mining and data science methodologies is considered an asset, as is experience with coding or data analysis using tools such as VBA, Python, or data visualization platforms like Power BI
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Optimal interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross functionally
