Quality Assurance Technician – Student (3 month Term Position)

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform required microbiological, physical and chemical analysis on ingredients, in-process products, finished products and shelf-life samples
• Accurately record results
• Obtain raw and finished product samples from production line
• Prepare media
• Perform equipment calibrations
• Perform HACCP and quality systems verifications and inspections
• Assist with problem solving when line performance is not optimal
• Take appropriate corrective actions when deviations are found
• Take GMP, HACCP and quality systems training, as required
• Working shifts in afternoon and evenings

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to follow instructions and strong attention to detail
• Ability to work as a team or independently with minimal Supervision
• Working proficiency with MS Office applications
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
• Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba class 5 driver's license
• Must be willing to work various hours, including evening, nights, weekend and holidays

MINIMUM EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• Degree or Diploma in Food Science, Food Technology or related field
• Previous food manufacturing or lab experience would be an asset
