Nova Multifest Society (NMS) is a local, non-profit organization.  Our mission is to promote and preserve art & culture in innovative ways, by hosting cultural events and supporting art & cultural organizations. We believe that art & culture is a powerful resource for identity and cohesion of communities, and that it can transform societies. 

Every summer, we host a multicultural festival, Nova Multifest, to celebrate Nova Scotia's rich tapestry of culture and diversity. The festival features live music and dance performances, craft exhibits, activities, and delicious cuisine from around the world.

Role Description

This is a hybrid internship role for a Social Media and Marketing Coordinator based in Dartmouth, NS, with some flexibility to work from home. In this role, t ake the lead on social media marketing and promotional content for Nova Multifest 2026. Create and implement a social media marketing plan by regularly posting engaging content on our social media platforms to raise awareness about Nova Multifest and build our organization's online presence. The successful candidate must work on site during the festival or events.  

Ideal Candidate

You are creative and enjoy using and developing your skills in social media marketing and engagement. You understand the basics of how to make and implement a promotion campaign with a consistent style and how to follow up with user response. You are self-motivated and able to work from home with flexible hours. You are excited to be a part of celebrating Nova Scotia's cultural diversity.

Options exist for a student to develop a personally tailored placement that will provide substantial experience for the student's resume as well as have a meaningful impact on the organization.

Jod Duties

  • Promptly respond to public inquiries and comments on our social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok etc.…) and respond to direct messages.
  • Analyze online social platform's user engagement and effectiveness of digital marketing campaigns and tailor strategies as needed.
  • Attend industry events, conferences, or online forums to network with potential collaborators or clients. This could involve setting up meetings, introducing the company, and exchanging contact information.
  • Identify potential sponsors, partners, or influencers in the community. Understand the company's ideal audience and create targeted lists for outreach. Weekly meetups with targeted audience/business.
  • Develop digital marketing and communication materials using tools like Canva, Adobe suite for business development.
  • Manage social media and assist in the implementation of our digital marketing strategy. Stay informed about the industry trends and emerging opportunities.
  • Assist with online outreach and engagement. Conduct video interviews with Vendors, Sponsors, Performers and event visitors.
  • Assist with designing and drafting reports and presentations for NMS or different levels of Government.
  • Create/update our website and other audio-visual content using tools such as Elementor, SEO, Google tool, Captain forms etc. (Training will be provided).
  • Research and outreach potential partners/sponsors/Vendors using online and in house resources and maintain client contact list(s).
  • Attend board meetings, take minutes and distribute the same within one week.
  • Develop and distribute E-blast and monthly newsletters.
  • Other duties as required.

Must Have

  • Communication in English fluently (Written and Verbal, both)
  • Access to a laptop and a reliable internet connection is must
  • Pleasant character and outgoing personality
  • Able to work from home and attend community events when required by NMS
  • Must know design tool Canva, word, excel, power point etc.
  • Must have a computer, access to car and valid driving license, access to car would be a help but not necessary
  • Self-motivated with excellent leadership skills and comfortable working with a team.

For the organization, it is expected that the student will:

  • Support the implementation of the organization's digital marketing strategy, strategic plan, and activities.
  • Develop PowerPoint presentations, one-pager handouts, posters, infographics, etc.
  • Develop written materials such as biographies, web content, newsletter content, sponsorship packages, and/or member and volunteer information packages.
  • Develop audio-video materials for promotional purposes.
  • Support and contribute to the goals and priorities of the organization.
  • Support completing different reports as required.
  • Provide general help during events.

Your designated bi-weekly hours in this temporary position will be seventy (70) and will include evenings and alternative weekend. You agree that your work schedule will potentially change based on Nova Multifest Society's Operational and strategic requirements and won't pay extra for working on any weekends or holidays.
