Software Engineer Internship – Vancouver, BC

12 weeks, 35 hours a week, Summer 2026

On-site at 103-4338 Main Street, Vancouver, BC, V5V 3P9

$25 per hour

About OBD Experts

Founded in 2009, OBD Experts develops software that reads and interprets vehicle data from passenger cars and trucks. Our clients use this data to monitor and manage their own or their customers’ fleets. Key parameters include VIN, fuel levels, odometer readings, door status, and EV battery metrics.

We are currently scaling our SaaS product, Odomatic

, with ambitious growth plans. As we expand, we are looking for a motivated Software Engineer Intern

to support our team in research, software releases, testing, and customer technical support.

Responsibilities

  • Research and integrate new vehicle parameters into our software.
  • Aid in software releases, including testing, and validation.
  • Provide support to customers including investigating usage and developing customer specific support plans.
  • Contribute to firmware and embedded software development for connected products.
  • Collaborate with the team to enhance and scale our SaaS platform.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

(Canadian citizen or permanent resident). - Living in the Vancouver area - Currently studying at a Canadian University or College for a post-secondary degree

in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Knowledge of C programming language.
  • Experience with peripheral drivers

(CAN, Ethernet/DoIP). - Interest in automotive engineering

. - Experience writing automation scripts or tooling in Python

(e.g., test harnesses, data parsing, CI helpers). - Experience with embedded debugging tools and basic electronics. - Experience with version control and collaboration tools (Git, GitHub). - Enthusiasm for learning new protocols, hardware platforms, and development tools. - Knowledge of Amazon AWS
