World Star Tech is a leading manufacturer of laser systems for biomedical, instrumentation, and machine vision applications. Located in Markham, we operate out of a modern facility and are currently seeking a dynamic, high-performing Software Engineer Intern (Summer 2026) to join our team. The ideal candidate is an energetic self-starter with excellent technical and communication skills. They must have a proven track record of developing high-quality software/firmware. Key Responsibilities

• Develop firmware and graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for new and existing products, including laser markers, spectrometers, analyzers, and medical devices.
• Create software solutions for in-house automation using robotic systems.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team (electronic, software, and optomechanical) at the forefront of innovation.

Basic Qualifications

• Pursuing a Degree in Engineering or a related technical field from a credible University with prior internship experience
• Strong proficiency in C++ and Python , following object-oriented programming principles.
• Experience developing firmware for STM32 microcontrollers or similar, including use of timers, I2C/UART/SPI, DMA, ADC, and other peripherals.
• Experience in GUI design for desktop and/or embedded touchscreen applications.
• Ability to write clean, readable, and well-documented code.

Bonus Qualifications

• Comfortable working across abstraction layers, from low-level embedded systems to high-level system architecture.
• Experience with C# and .NET for desktop application development.
• Familiarity with TCP socket programming and cloud-based services.
• Experience with image processing
