Job Description
We are currently seeking a Student Geologist to join our Exploration team this summer!
The Student Geologist will support the Exploration team in field-based activities related to mineral exploration programs. This role provides hands-on experience in mapping, sampling, drill core logging, and site visits to active diamond drilling operations.
All Magna Mining team members are expected to work collaboratively with others, lead the way in health and safety, act with honesty, integrity, and foster an entrepreneurial spirit in pursuit of excellence.
Responsibilities:

Provide geological field support to the exploration geology team and exploration programs in the field, in the core shack or other locations.

Support geological field activities including mapping, prospecting, and sampling.

Assist with drill core handling, logging, basic geotechnical measurements, and organization of core boxes.

Participate in site visits to active diamond drilling programs.

Assist with outcrop sampling, including chip and channel sampling, following CIM best practice guidelines.

Complete geological descriptions of samples and maintain accurate field notes.

Perform daily data entry, quality control checks, and assist with drill hole database management.

Inspect and report on field equipment to ensure safe and proper working order.

Follow all safety procedures, use required PPE and support environmental protection practices.

Assist the supervising Geologist with field preparation, planning, and other exploration activities as required.

Other responsibilities and duties as required.
Requirements
Qualifications: Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents

Currently enrolled in a Canadian College or University in Geology, Earth Sciences, Geological Engineering, or a related field.

Must have completed at least one year of post-secondary studies in a related field.
Work Experience: Nature & Length
- Previous geological work as a summer student will be beneficial however, is not a requirement.

Strong interest in mineral exploration and fieldwork.

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions.

Use of a compass, maps, and handheld Garmin GPS

Appropriate knowledge of the principles and practices of geology.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to follow safety procedures and work effectively in a team environment.

Valid driver’s license
