THE OPPORTUNITY

Building Ontario Fund (BOF) is seeking an Finance Intern for a 12 month internship starting in September 2026. ( This job posting represents an existing vacancy.)

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Accountable for providing support to the Finance team in the areas of financial modelling, forecasting, reporting and research/analytical activities. This role offers a hands-on exposure to economic/ financial reporting and analysis, investment financing post-close activities, and internal audit processes.

  • Practical experience in economic/ financial modeling and forecasting.
  • Exposure to enterprise financial reporting and risk concepts in the Financial Services and Government space.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Modeling & Analysis

  • Assist in building or maintaining economic/financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, public benefit assessment and scenario analysis
  • Support variance analysis by comparing actual results to budgets and forecasts
  • Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Create, enhance, and maintain Excel-based reporting templates and dashboards
  • Assist in standardizing financial reporting formats to improve consistency and efficiency
  • Support preparation of management reports and presentations

Investment Finance/ Research

  • Support post close investment activities by creating tools/templates
  • Assist with technical accounting research
  • Assist with economic research focused on BOF’s priority areas
  • Assist with Internal audit as needed

Risk Management

  • Assist in risk assessment activities, including maintaining the enterprise risk register and updating key risk indicators.
  • Support preparation of risk dashboards and reports for management and board committees.
  • Support implementation of risk management tools, templates, and process documentation.
  • Support coordination of internal audit activities, including data requests and tracking action items

Asset Servicing

  • Support the processing of fund disbursements and ensure the timely receipt of principal and interest payments in accordance with related schedules and cash flow forecasts
  • Assist in coordinating funding, debt service and repayment activities by gathering required information and updating investment administration and compliance tracking schedules
  • Assist with ongoing loan guarantee monitoring activities, including monitoring receipt of required documents and supporting issue resolution

General Finance Support

  • Assist with data gathering, reconciliation, and validation
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as assigned
  • Collaborate with team members across finance and business functions

Education and Experience

Current students or recent graduates with a recognized post-secondary degree or diploma in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related discipline.

Our office at 79 Wellington Street W, Toronto is steps from Union Station, with great dining and transit options.

As part of the Ontario Public Service, BOF requires employees to work in-office five (5) days/week . We believe in-person presence and collaboration strengthens culture and service delivery.
