About The Role We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Full Stack Developer at an entry level to join our Global Wealth Engineering (GWE) team in Toronto, Ontario. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the modernization and enhancement of client and account onboarding platforms for Scotia Wealth Management. As part of a dynamic, agile team, you will be involved in designing, developing, and supporting enterprise applications that improve client experiences and operational efficiency. You will work closely with senior engineers, architects, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with business needs.

The ideal candidate is passionate about technology, eager to learn, and committed to delivering secure, scalable, and efficient software solutions. This role provides a platform to develop your skills in full-stack development, cloud technologies, and modern frameworks, while making a meaningful impact on our clients and the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 2-4 years of full-stack development experience, including internships or professional roles.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and RESTful API development.
  • Experience with modern frameworks such as React, Next.js, and Node.js.
  • Knowledge of event streaming platforms like Kafka or Google Pub/Sub is an asset.
  • Basic understanding of Google Cloud services (Cloud Run, Cloud Functions).
  • Experience with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines (Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
  • Awareness of security protocols including SSL/TLS, OAuth2, and JWT.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams and follow guidance from senior engineers.
  • Containerization experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Knowledge of financial services domain is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of full-stack applications supporting internal and external systems.
  • Develop user interface components using modern frameworks such as React and Next.js under guidance from senior team members.
  • Create and maintain RESTful APIs, integrating with microservices and event streaming platforms like Kafka or Google Pub/Sub.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure solutions meet business requirements and technical standards.
  • Participate in code reviews, adhere to coding standards, and continuously improve technical skills.
  • Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment processes to ensure smooth releases.
  • Implement security best practices, including secure coding and API design, to protect sensitive data.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, staging, and production environments to ensure system stability.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend improvements and innovations.
