Human Resources Intern โ€“ 1 Year Contract

Summary

The Human Resources (HR) Intern program is designed to provide incumbents with training and mentorship which offers practical learning opportunities and hands-on experience within the Human Resources field. The HR Intern will be motivated to accumulate and apply their HR knowledge towards business-related projects within Bimose Tribal Council. The HR Intern will continuously work on professional development to become effective in providing HR assistance and support.

The internship is a full-time, paid position. The HR intern will work on site for the duration of the term. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of their term with Bimose Tribal Council. The anticipated start date will be June 1st, 2026.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
  • A background in Business and/or HR would be considered an asset
  • Eager and willing to learn
  • Able to maintain and uphold confidentiality
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Receptive and open to continuous feedback
  • Computer skills, including knowledge of MS Office software

Responsibilities

  • Accumulates and implements HR concepts and knowledge towards business-related projects and assignments within Bimose Tribal Council; Works alongside the Human Resources Manager to achieve learning and development goals.
  • Engages in meaningful one-to-one and group discussions with the immediate supervisor; Remains open to feedback and reciprocates thoughts and ideas; Ensures projects are responsive to any HR needs within Bimose Tribal Council.
  • Conducts research to identify resources, information, materials related to HR best practice and employment legislation; Seeks input on internal processes, standards and procedures from management and staff within Bimose Tribal Council as needed.
  • Completes assignments using sound reasoning, practicality, and a comprehensive approach; Presents projects and updates to the trainer, mentor, and immediate supervisor on a regular basis.
  • Uses MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Video Conferencing Platforms, and other software to complete projects and training components.
  • Will be privy to sensitive and confidential information.
