Position Title: Intern, Talent Acquisition

Full Time, Contract

Location: Toronto, ON

Reports To: Talent Acquisition Lead

I. Scope & Summary of Primary Responsibilities

A member of the People & Culture team, this position is an important contributor to the success of CNIB through covering a broad range of duties such as sourcing, attracting, and onboarding employees. This position is responsible for the administration of day-to-day transactional People & Culture duties including HRIS administration and maintaining employee records. The intern, talent Acquisition is also responsible for collaborating with recruiters to organize recruitment events and contribute to talent acquisition strategies. This individual must have the ability to exercise superior level of discretion and judgment when handling confidential information and maintain diplomacy, integrity, and confidentiality at all times.

II. Essential Functions

The position entails, but is not limited to the following general responsibilities:

  • Presenting candidates to employers under the guidance of a talent acquisition coordinator

  • Source potential candidates through various channels inclusive of but not limited to social platforms and professional networks

  • Collaborate with the talent acquisition coordinator to create a strong talent pipeline for our company's current and future hiring needs, especially as it relates to those candidates who are blind or partially sighted

  • Support talent acquisition coordinator in the recruitment cycle (job posting, resume collection, developing interview questions, coordinating interviews, reference checks, onboarding, and orientation etc.)

  • Prepare and process offer letters, employment contracts, change forms, initial employee documentation/orientation packages and employee correspondence.

  • Remain informed and current with ongoing P & C trends

  • Participate in People & Culture projects and assist team members when required

III. Qualifications

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Experience working in a matrixed environment, successfully influencing diverse stakeholders

  • Familiarity with resume databases, and social/professional networks

  • Hands-on experience with full-cycle recruitment using various interview techniques and evaluation methods

  • Knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems, HRIS, Time & Attendance systems, and MS Office

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong negotiations and people skills

  • Proficient data analytic skills

  • Empathy and active listening skills

  • Bilingualism in French is an asset but not required.

  • Customer service oriented with well-developed interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent administrative, time-management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work with private and confidential material.

Experience and Education

  • Currently enrolled in a Human Resources and/or a Business Administration program

  • Experience in talent acquisition in a similar role is an asset.

  • Experience in an accessibility environment is an asset.

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with Ontario legislation and regulations.

  • Must be able to work independently

  • Occasional travel within the GTA may be required
