Full Description
As one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, Emperor Specialty Foods is looking for a Junior Accountant to join our Vancouver team!
This permanent part-time position reports to our Assistant Accounting Manager and is responsible for handling day-to-day accounts payable and receivable activities as well as other accounting and administrative duties, in an effective and efficient manner. The successful candidate will have a good fundamental base of accounting basics and be a mature and responsible team collaborator who also works well independently. Responsibilities include the following:
Accounting:
•
Recording financial transactions (sales, purchases, expenses) into the accounting system
•
Performing reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and issuing invoices
•
Processing G/L entries to ensure a proper recording of all business transactions
•
Verifying and processing supplier invoices and following up on overdue invoices
•
Following up on outstanding customer invoices and sending payment reminders to customers
•
Reconciling cash receipts and payments
•
Recording credit card transactions, collecting credit receipts, and reconciling credit statements
- Performing credit checks on new customers
- Preparing EBITDA forecast
Administration
•
Generating purchase orders and placing orders with packaging suppliers
•
Updating customer and supplier information in Envio and Sage
•
Answer incoming calls and direct them as needed
•
Overseeing Paypal Account
•
Creating accounts for new users
•
Creating SKU for new items
•
Order office supplies (coffee, cartridges, paper, etc.)
•
Collaborating and supporting employee events
Qualifications
•
A minimum of 1-year hands-on bookkeeping and general accounting experience
•
Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting or equivalent experience
•
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Windows, Sage, QuickBooks or similar
•
Good interpersonal and communication skills
•
Strong organizational skills
•
Effective conflict resolution skills
