We work with disruptive brands, big budgets, and make crazy ideas come to life!

Our model is built upon the core values of Alignment and Transparency, which means that, unlike traditional agencies that win by charging huge retainers, Pilothouse wins by delivering huge results.

Alongside our team of 180+ members spanning Media Buyers, Copywriters, Content Managers, Landing Page Developers, Content Creators, Email & SMS Coordinators, CGC & Influencer Managers, and more, we need a Junior Accountant to support our Accounting and Finance team with day-to-day bookkeeping, reporting, ERP automation, and process improvement work.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Currently enrolled in, or completion of a business, accounting, bookkeeping, or finance-related program
  • Strong foundational understanding of accounting principles
  • Ability to understand and work through basic accounting concepts, including journal entries
  • Some practical accounting, bookkeeping, finance, administrative, or office experience is preferred
  • Strong Excel skills, with the ability to adapt to Google Workspace tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working with numbers, financial information, and detailed records
  • Strong technical comfort and ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Ability to work independently once trained
  • Located in the Greater Victoria area or within a reasonable commuting distance for occasional in-office work
  • Experience with Claude is considered an asset.
  • Experience with AI-native ERP systems, such as Campfire or Rillet, is considered an asset.

ESSENTIAL QUALITIES:

  • Critical thinker who can work through problems before escalating
  • Self-starter who can manage assigned work independently
  • Eager to learn and open to feedback
  • Adaptable and comfortable in a growing, changing business environment
  • Curious, thoughtful, and willing to ask good questions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Comfortable coming forward with recommendations, not just problems
  • Interested in improving processes rather than accepting the status quo
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working with a remote team
  • Reliable, organized, and accountable to a consistent schedule

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Support general bookkeeping duties across the Pilothouse group of companies
  • Assist with accounting tasks, financial record-keeping, and recurring finance workflows
  • Support automation setup and process improvements in our new ERP system
  • Assist with financial analysis, including variance analysis and flux analysis
  • Support scenario planning work with the Controller and VP of Finance
  • Help prepare materials for board and executive reports
  • Assist with sales tax filing support
  • Support accounting workflow documentation and process improvements
  • Complete ad hoc accounting and finance tasks as required by the Controller

ABOUT THE POSITION

This is a part-time Junior Accountant role supporting our Accounting and Finance team.

You will work closely with our Controller and broader Finance team on bookkeeping, financial analysis, reporting, ERP automation, and process improvement projects. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build practical accounting experience while contributing to a growing business with evolving systems and processes.

The role is expected to be approximately 15 to 20 hours per week, depending on business needs. While there may be some flexibility, we are looking for someone who can commit to a consistent weekly schedule, with set blocks of time during regular business hours. For example, this may look like four consecutive hours at a time on agreed-upon days.

This role is primarily remote, but candidates should be located in the Greater Victoria area or within a reasonable commuting distance. There may be occasional in-office days to work with the Controller and accounting team.
