Full Description

The Junior Accountant supports the organization’s daily financial activities. They play a key role in processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate accounting records, and preparing basic financial reports, while ensuring compliance with internal policies and applicable accounting standards.

The Junior Accountant reports directly to the Financial Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the weekly bank report to ensure cash flow monitoring.
  • Process NSF transactions related to tenants and generate reports for the Accounts Receivable department.
  • Record banking transactions and perform bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and process intercompany billing as well as billing to partners.
  • Record vendor invoices, process payments, and print corresponding checks.
  • Process refunds related to tenant move-outs.
  • Record and monitor transactions related to parking.
  • Participate in data processing within the Write-Up software (investments).
  • Provide various administrative support tasks to the Finance department.
  • Prepare and compile documentation required for audits and internal controls.
  • Maintain up-to-date financial records and databases.
  • Manage mail and ensure proper filing of accounting and administrative documents.
  • Provide reception coverage during the lunch hour once every two weeks.

Requirements and Skills

  • Diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Excellent analytical, financial, and mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and related software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Extremely trustworthy with a strong sense of professionalism.
  • Strong business and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Intermediate to advanced level in Excel.
  • Experience with the Yardi platform (an asset).
