Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Jr. Accountant to join our team. The Jr. Accountant is responsible for managing the full accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate reconciliations, and supporting month-end closing activities for our Toronto (YPTO) and New York (YPNY) offices. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience, with financial systems, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting:

  • AP: Manage accounts payable process including invoice approvals, entry, disbursement preparation.
  • Bank Reconciliations: bi-weekly bank reconciliations.
  • Credit Card Reconciliations: corporate credit card reconciliations for both companies.
  • Employee Reimbursements: weekly processing for approvals and disbursements.
  • Maintain accurate, timely bookkeeping records for all numbered and holding companies.
  • Support bookkeeping for the owner’s personal financial matters, in alignment with their direction and priorities.

Other:

  • Banking as required.
  • Assist in year-end review of YPTO and YPNY.
  • Other ad-hoc tasks.

Systems:

  • Unanet – primarily used in architecture companies
  • QuickBooks Microsoft Office

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Pursuing or having completed CPA designation considered an asset.
  • 1-2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping or finance.
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and journal entries is preferred.
  • Prior experience in architecture, design or professional services firm is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication & interpersonal skills for collaborating with vendors, team members, and management.
