Role Description The Junior Bookkeeper is a full-time hybrid role based in Toronto, ON, with flexibility for some work-from-home days. This role supports day-to-day accounting operations, including recording and reconciling financial transactions, preparing and posting journal entries, and maintaining accurate general ledger records. The Junior Bookkeeper assists with accounts payable and receivable processing, helps prepare basic financial reports, and supports month-end and year-end close activities. Responsibilities also include maintaining organized digital records, collaborating with internal teams to resolve discrepancies, and using accounting software to ensure data accuracy and timely updates. The individual in this role will work closely with senior finance team members to support process improvements and ensure compliance with internal controls.
Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of bookkeeping and finance, including understanding of debits, credits, and general ledger structures.
- Ability to prepare, review, and interpret basic financial statements and reports.
- Experience recording and posting journal entries (accounting), including accruals and adjustments under supervision.
- Comfort using accounting software and related tools (e.g., cloud-based accounting platforms, spreadsheets, and financial reporting systems).
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid team environment.
- Interest in learning and applying technology-driven solutions in a data-focused company; prior experience in a startup or SaaS environment is an asset.
