Junior Buyer
Schwank North America is expanding its team and looking to fill a new position!
We’re seeking a Junior Buyer (1–3 years’ experience) to support direct and indirect purchasing in our manufacturing environment. This role ensures materials are available to meet production schedules and customer commitments. The Junior Buyer will work with ERP/MRP systems, collaborate across teams, and help maintain strong supplier relationships.
At Schwank, Buyers are trusted partners who protect production flow, manage supply risks, drive cost efficiencies, and support operational excellence. The ideal candidate has strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build productive relationships with internal teams and external suppliers. This role supports procurement for Schwank Outdoor Products, infrared heaters, and other product lines.
Experience in a manufacturing environment and familiarity with mechanical products will be considered strong assets. HVAC or BBQ manufacturing experience is highly desirable.
Position Status: New Role
Salary: $55,000–$65,000 CAD
Location: Mississauga, ON (Hybrid)

Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Planning Execution
- Create and manage purchase orders within the ERP system
- Convert MRP requirements into actionable supplier releases
- Monitor open purchase orders and proactively mitigate supply risks
- Expedite materials when necessary to protect production schedules
- Resolve pricing discrepancies, invoice variances, and receiving issues
Supplier Partnership & Performance
- Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with suppliers based on mutual accountability
- Monitor and support improvements in supplier On-Time Delivery (OTD) performance
- Support RFQ activities and assist with cost analysis initiatives
- Contribute to supplier performance reviews using data and performance metrics
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Production, Planning, Engineering, and Finance teams
- Communicate potential risks early and propose practical solutions
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Supply Chain team
KPI Accountability
You will actively monitor and contribute to improvements in the following key performance indicators:
- On-Time Delivery (OTD)
- Past-Due Purchase Orders
- Purchase Price Variance (PPV)
- Inventory levels and inventory turns
- Expedite frequency and related costs
- Cost savings initiatives
This role supports the procurement of fabricated metal components, electrical controls, motors, valves, packaging materials, MRO supplies, and service parts that support our HVAC heating systems and Schwank Outdoor Products.
What We’re Looking For
- 1–3 years of purchasing experience in manufacturing, HVAC, industrial equipment, or a similar environment
- A minimum of 2 years of North American purchasing experience
- Experience working in a leading ERP/MRP system (SAP, Epicor, Oracle, Dynamics, Infor, or similar)
- Strong Excel and analytical skills
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business, or Operations is an asset

- Maintain healthy and accurate open purchase order reporting
- Improve supplier responsiveness and on-time delivery performance
- Reduce reactive expediting through proactive planning
- Contribute to improved inventory accuracy and cost discipline / savings
- Become a trusted partner to Production and Planning teams
- Demonstrate alignment with Schwank’s values of integrity, teamwork, and accountability
