Junior Data Engineer
Role Description
The Junior Data Engineer supports the development and maintenance of reliable data systems that enable efficient data flow across the organization. This role focuses on building and improving data pipelines, ensuring data is accurately extracted, transformed, and loaded (ETL) from multiple sources into structured storage systems such as databases and data warehouses. The objective is to provide clean, consistent, and accessible data for analytics and business use.
Key responsibilities include assisting in the design, development, and monitoring of data pipelines, writing and optimizing SQL queries, and supporting data integration from various internal and external systems. The role involves troubleshooting data issues, resolving pipeline failures, and ensuring data quality, consistency, and timeliness. The engineer also collaborates with analytics and business teams to ensure data is properly structured to meet reporting and analytical needs.
In addition, the Junior Data Engineer supports the development of scalable data architectures and contributes to improvements in performance, reliability, and automation of data processes. Exposure to cloud-based platforms, data warehouses, and scripting for workflow automation may be part of the role. Documentation of data processes and adherence to data governance standards are also important responsibilities.
This position provides opportunities to learn modern data engineering practices, including pipeline orchestration, database optimization, and data modeling. Continuous improvement and adaptability to new tools and technologies are key aspects of the role.
Qualifications
A background in computer science, information systems, mathematics, or related technical fields is beneficial. Basic understanding of databases, SQL, and programming concepts such as Python or similar languages is expected.
