Founders Metals: discovery-focused gold exploration
Full Description
Location: Vancouver, BC
Employment Type:
Full-Time, Permanent
Reports To: Director, New Projects
Travel:
Yes, non-rotational based travel to the Antino Gold Project in Suriname when necessary
About the Opportunity
Founders Metals Inc. (TSX-V: FDR) is a Vancouver-based exploration company advancing the Antino Gold Project in southeastern Suriname, within the Marowijne Greenstone Belt of the Guiana Shield. The project hosts a growing portfolio of high-grade orogenic gold discoveries across multiple target zones, supported by an active drill program, surface geochemistry, and geophysical surveys.
We are looking for a motivated Junior Geologist to join our high-impact technical team. This is a ground-floor opportunity with a company in discovery mode — you’ll gain exposure to every phase of a greenfield gold exploration program, from first-pass prospecting and auger sampling through to drill core logging and resource definition. The role is based out of our Vancouver office with travel to the Antino Gold Project site in Suriname when needed.
If you’re early in your career, eager to build real exploration skills in a world-class gold belt, and excited by the idea of contributing to new discoveries, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Georeference and digitize historic maps, reports, and archival exploration data to build and maintain the project’s geospatial database.
- Prepare maps, cross-sections, and figures to support project acquisitions, technical due diligence, exploration targeting, drill planning, and technical reporting.
- Assist in the compilation and formatting of data for press releases, corporate presentations, technical reports, and regulatory filings.
- Support senior geologists with literature reviews, data compilations, and target generation exercises.
- Contribute to the digitization and translation of historic Dutch and French geological reports and concession documents relevant to the Guiana Shield.
- Support active exploration programs.
Education & Experience
- B.Sc. in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a closely related field.
- 0–3 years of relevant experience. Co-op placements, internships, field school, and research assistantships are valued and counted toward experience.
- Eligibility for professional-in-training status (e.g., G.I.T. with Engineers & Geoscientists BC).
Capabilities & Credentials
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear figures, well-organized datasets, and concise technical summaries.
- Foundational understanding of ore deposit geology; knowledge of orogenic gold systems and greenstone belt geology is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of sample collection methods, QAQC principles, and drilling techniques (diamond core, RC, auger).
- Experience with geospatial software (ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth Pro, etc.) is considered an asset. Exposure to 3D geological modelling platforms (Leapfrog Geo, Micromine, or similar) is considered an asset.
- Organized, self-directed, collaborative, and comfortable working in small teams under remote field conditions.
- Valid passport and ability to travel internationally.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Physical fitness for tropical field conditions, including the ability to hike in dense bush terrain, work in hot and humid weather, and lift up to 25 kg (55 lb).
Considered Assets
- Previous field experience in tropical or remote settings.
- Familiarity with the geology of the Guiana Shield, Trans-Amazonian Orogeny, or West African analogue terranes (Birimian).
- Proficiency in additional languages (Dutch, Portuguese, or French) is a bonus.
- Experience with pXRF (portable X-ray fluorescence) for lithogeochemistry.
- Interest in structural geology as applied to orogenic gold targeting.
