Key responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
· Conducting field-based wildlife surveys, including: breeding bird and avian migration surveys; species specific
surveys (e.g. sharp-tailed grouse, burrowing owl, sensitive raptors, amphibians, sensitive snakes, and short-horned lizards) and wildlife sweeps and nest searches

· Working safely and effectively in variable field conditions
· Maintain accurate, high-quality field data collection
Candidates will have the following qualifications and experience:
· Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in wildlife biology, zoology, environmental science, or related discipline.
· Minimum of 3 years field experience (consulting experience preferred).
· Strong ability to identify wildlife species by sight and sound and identify habitat requirements.
· Knowledge of provincial and federal regulations, approval processes, and survey guidelines.
· Experience conducting wildlife surveys in Alberta, Saskatchewan and/or British Columbia.
· Must work well with others and be organized. Organization is key as you will be responsible for working on various projects concurrently.
· Must have computer knowledge and proficiency with various Microsoft programs (e.g., Word, Excel).
· Ability to read a map and use a GPS.
· Valid Class 5 driver’s license, H2S Alive, TDG, ATV safe rider, and First Aid are required. If you don’t have any of these currently, we can work on getting them for you.
· Membership (or eligibility) in the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists (ASPB).
Additional Assets for the position include:
· ArcGIS or QGIS knowledge.
· Plant identification skills.
· Experience with wetland assessments and soil assessments.
· Experience conducting environmental monitoring for construction or exploration projects.
