Junior DevOps Engineer

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Contract-to-Hire

Brooksource is seeking a Junior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join a growing engineering team focused on cloud infrastructure, automation, and DevOps practices. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who is eager to learn, naturally curious, and interested in building expertise in cloud and platform engineering.

What You'll Do

  • Support cloud infrastructure and platform operations
  • Assist with infrastructure automation using tools like Terraform and CloudFormation
  • Write scripts and automation solutions using Python and Bash
  • Help maintain, troubleshoot, and improve production environments
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
  • Participate in code reviews and team discussions
  • Collaborate with engineers to improve reliability, scalability, and developer experience

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Cloud Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related fields
  • Python or scripting experience (Required)
  • Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Linux experience
  • Familiarity with Git/GitHub
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to learn

Preferred Qualifications

  • Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
  • Kubernetes, ECS, or Docker
  • Jenkins or GitHub Actions
  • CI/CD pipeline experience
  • AWS services and cloud infrastructure experience
  • Monitoring and observability tools
