About Purposely

Purposely is a B2B SaaS platform that helps companies run their employee volunteer programs end to end. We work with clients like Clio, GreenShield, Hootsuite, and Boston Dynamics, and we're growing fast.

We're a small team building something meaningful. Right now we're deep into building the next version of Purposely, featuring an agentic layer that helps remove the administrative burden of running an employee volunteer program, a natural language interface for impact reporting, and a new donations product built on Stripe Connect and PayPal Giving Fund.

The Role

We're looking for a developer to work alongside our lead developer to help build out the AI and donations infrastructures for the next version of Purposely. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to learn with a fast paced team while also having the freedom to take ownership of projects.

Our Stack

• Frontend: Typescript, React
• Backend: Python, Django
• Database: PostgreSQL
• AI: Python/FastAPI service powering our LLM agent (tool-calling, streaming)

What You'll Work On

• Building out the next version of Purposely across our agentic admin layer (nonprofit matching, communications, and natural language reporting) in Django, FastAPI, and React
• Developing our donations product, including Stripe Connect and PayPal Giving Fund integrations
• HRIS integrations
• Our messaging architecture, spanning Customer.io and Gmail/Outlook OAuth
• Writing and maintaining Django models, views, and APIs, plus React components on the frontend
• General full-stack product development as we scale

What We're Looking For

• A strong technical foundation. You understand the fundamentals and can reason through problems
• Project experience in Django and React or similar technologies
• Frontend experience preferable, you're comfortable building out UI and components in React
• Capable of leveraging AI tools to aid in day-to-day coding (Claude Code, Copilot, Codex)
• Passion for learning new technologies
• Comfortable in a small team environment where you'll wear multiple hats and move quickly
• Bonus: experience with HRIS systems, donation platforms, or LLM-powered product features

Compensation

~$65K CAD, negotiable based on experience, plus benefits and equity
