About Algisa

Algisa Consulting is a structural engineering firm serving clients across North America, with particular depth in cast-in-place and precast concrete. We work across residential, commercial, institutional and industrial projects, from early design through construction completion. Our engineers focus on design, analysis and construction administration, supported by dedicated production resources.

The Role

We are looking for a Junior Structural Engineer to join our design team. Reporting to a senior structural engineer, you will support design and analysis work and take an active part in construction administration, with mentorship and technical oversight throughout. This is a development role: you will be given real responsibility, and the support to grow into it.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare design calculations, structural analysis and design narratives under the direction of a senior engineer
  • Assist in the design of steel, concrete, masonry and wood structures, with a focus on cast-in-place and precast concrete
  • Run structural analysis and design software (ETABS, SAFE, S-Concrete, SAP2000) under supervision
  • Review shop drawings against design intent and coordinate comments back through the production team
  • Support construction administration: responses to requests for information, periodic site review, and preparation of site reports
  • Assist with construction cost estimates and specification writing
  • Collaborate with architects, designers and contractors through the design and construction process

What You Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited program
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training with Professional Engineers Ontario, or eligible to register
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience, including internships or co-op placements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — you will be writing site reports and corresponding with clients
  • Valid Ontario driver's licence and access to a vehicle for site visits
  • Eligibility to work in Canada

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to precast concrete design
  • Field experience on construction sites, including general reviews for compliance with drawings and specifications
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication-level drawings (rebar, precast, structural steel)
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit for markup and coordination purposes

If you meet most but not all of the above, we encourage you to apply.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary within the posted range
  • Hybrid work arrangement
  • Vacation, health benefits and RRSP contributions
  • Direct mentorship from senior engineers and a structured path toward P.Eng. licensure
  • Design-focused work — you will not be spending your first two years drafting
