The Opportunity

We are seeking a Staff Accountant – CPA Student

to join our team in a full-time, permanent position. This role is intended for an individual who is committed to pursuing the Chartered Professional Accountant designation and who meets the academic prerequisites required for admission to the CPA Professional Education Program. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career accounting professional who wants to build practical public practice experience while progressing toward their CPA designation.

Main Responsibilities

·        Prepare and assist with client bookkeeping, accounting records, bank reconciliations, sales transaction recording, expense tracking, invoice payments, and payroll support.

·        Assist with financial reporting, including profit and loss statements, balance sheet support, bank statements, and cash flow analysis.

·        Support the preparation of working papers, schedules, and other client files under the supervision of senior team members.

·        Assist with personal and corporate tax work, as appropriate to your experience and training.

·        Maintain the confidentiality of client information and follow professional standards in all client matters.

·        Provide professional, responsive client service and communicate clearly with clients and team members.

·        Take initiative in learning, asking questions, and building the technical skills required for success as a CPA student.

What We Are Looking For

The successful candidate must be committed to pursuing the CPA designation and must have completed the academic prerequisites required to enter the CPA Professional Education Program. We are looking for someone who is motivated, reliable, team-oriented, and eager to develop in public practice.

·         Required:

Intention and commitment to pursue the CPA designation.

·         Required:

Completion of the prerequisite courses required for admission to the CPA Professional Education Program.

·        Strong attention to detail, organization, and willingness to learn.

·        Clear written and verbal communication skills.

·        Experience with Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Sage, Receipt Bank, or Plooto would be considered an asset.

CPA Student Requirement

Applicants should be prepared to discuss their CPA pathway, including their current status with CPA prerequisite coursework and expected timeline for admission to the CPA Professional Education Program.
