GFL Environmental, leading North American environmental services

Full Description

*About GFL Environmental* Green For Life! At GFL, our slogan is more than just a tagline—it’s our way of life. We are the only major diversified environmental services company in North America, offering robust solutions in solid waste management, liquid waste management, and soil remediation.

With over 20,000 employees across Canada and the United States, our success is driven by the people we hire. That’s where you come in.

The Opportunity Are you a people person with a passion for HR, recruitment, or talent strategy? We are looking for an energetic, detail-oriented Talent Acquisition Intern to join our corporate HR team for a 4-month term.

In this role, you won't just be fetching coffee. You will get a hands-on, 360-degree view of how a fast-paced, North American enterprise attracts and hires top talent. You will split your time supporting two distinct high-volume areas: Corporate Recruitment (Finance, IT, Legal, HR) and Field Recruitment (Drivers, Technicians, Operations, and Skilled Trades).

*Key Responsibilities*

  • Sourcing & Candidate Attraction: Utilize LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed, and our Applicant Tracking System (Workday) to build a pipeline of active and passive candidates.
  • Screening & Interviewing: Conduct initial phone screens for both professional corporate roles and high-volume field positions to assess cultural fit and technical qualifications.
  • Coordination & Scheduling: Take the lead on scheduling interviews, managing calendars across multiple time zones, and ensuring a seamless candidate experience.
  • Recruitment Marketing & Campus Outreach: Assist with posting jobs, tracking analytics, and potentially coordinating local hiring events or virtual career fairs.
  • Data & Administration: Keep our ATS clean and up-to-date, initiate background/reference checks, and assist with weekly recruitment metrics reporting.

*What You Bring To The Team*

  • Education: Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program (Diploma or Degree) in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field. (Co-op status preferred).
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. You’ll be talking to everyone from executive directors to commercial truck drivers.
  • Tech-Savvy: Fast learner with software. Previous exposure to an ATS (Workday is a huge plus) or HRIS, and proficiency with MS Office (Teams, Excel, Outlook).
  • The Hustle: High energy, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where priorities change quickly.
  • Organization: A borderline-obsessive attention to detail and strong time-management skills.

*What’s In It For You*

  • Real-World Impact: You will own projects and play a tangible role in growing our team.
  • Mentorship: Work directly alongside seasoned Talent Acquisition Partners who are eager to invest in your professional growth.
  • Networking: Gain exposure to corporate leadership and operational managers across North America.
  • Culture: Join a diverse, collaborative, and hard-working team that knows how to celebrate success.

*How To Apply* If you’re ready to kickstart your career in HR and make a real green impact, we want to hear from you! Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter explaining why you’re the perfect fit for the Green For Life team.
