Full Description

AI Systems & Automation Intern (Agentic Workflows)

Location: Toronto (Hybrid)

Duration: 12–16 weeks (Summer 2026)

Compensation: $32–$48/hour (based on experience)

About the Role

We are looking for a technically strong and curious Computer Science student to help identify and implement practical AI-driven automations across a portfolio of technology companies.

This is a hands-on role focused on applying modern AI tools to real operational problems. You will work closely with founders and operators to streamline workflows, reduce manual work, and build lightweight systems that improve how teams operate.

This role is less about predefined tasks and more about proactively identifying opportunities where AI can create leverage, then building and deploying solutions quickly.

What You’ll Do

  • Identify opportunities to automate internal workflows using AI tools
  • Build lightweight agent-based systems to support research, reporting, and operations
  • Integrate APIs and external tools into automated pipelines
  • Prototype and iterate quickly on internal tools (hours to days, not weeks)
  • Work across multiple teams (product, operations, finance) depending on priorities
  • Document and share repeatable automation patterns

Example Projects

  • Automating internal reporting and data aggregation workflows
  • Building agents to assist with research, outreach, or internal operations
  • Creating simple internal tools or dashboards to improve visibility
  • Prototyping copilots for finance, hiring, or project management workflows

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently enrolled in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related program (University of Waterloo, University of Toronto, TMU, or similar)
  • Strong programming ability (Python preferred)
  • Experience working with APIs and scripting
  • Familiarity with LLMs (OpenAI, Claude, or similar)
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and taking ownership of loosely defined problems
  • Able to move quickly from idea to working prototype

Nice to Have

  • Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen, or similar frameworks
  • Exposure to data pipelines or workflow automation
  • Interest in startups, AI systems, or emerging technologies

What You’ll Get

  • Direct exposure to founders and real business problems
  • Opportunity to work across multiple companies and use cases
  • Ownership of projects with real impact
  • A fast-paced environment where you can build and ship quickly

Additional Details

This role will be employed through one of our portfolio companies, with the opportunity to contribute across multiple initiatives. We are looking for someone who is excited to apply AI in practical ways and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
