Art Gallery Associate

Canada House Gallery is looking for an Art Consultant to join our team in Banff.

This role is client-facing and sales-driven, but at its core it’s about building relationships, getting to know collectors, understanding their taste, and helping them find work they’ll live with for years.

We work with a well-established and discerning clientele, so we’re looking for someone who is confident, thoughtful in their communication, and genuinely interested in Canadian art. An eye for detail, a calm presence, and the ability to read a room go a long way here.

We’re hoping to find someone interested in committing to at least 12 months, with the intention of growing into the role over time and becoming a meaningful part of the gallery.

Qualifications

-Comfortable working with a high-level clientele in a polished but approachable way

– Background or strong interest in fine art or art history

– Clear, confident communicator (written and in person)

– Organized, attentive, and self-directed

– Familiarity with CRM systems is helpful (GS/Shopify is an asset)

– Able to work independently, while contributing to a close-knit team

– Looking for a longer-term position within a gallery environment (12 months or more)

Established in 1974, Canada House Gallery has long been dedicated to presenting contemporary Canadian art at a high level. Located in the heart of Banff, our gallery reflects both the energy of the town and the surrounding landscape.We represent over 50 painters, 20 sculptors, a photographer, jewellers, and a significant collection of Inuit art from Canada’s Arctic. Our artists range from emerging voices to those with national and international recognition, and several are based locally, drawing direct inspiration from the Rockies.The gallery is open year-round (closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day), and our visitors arrive as they are—whether straight off the ski hill, trail, or road. Our role is to meet them there, and offer an experience that feels both relaxed and informed.

Job Requirement:

Responsibilities

– Work closely with clients to guide acquisitions in a considered, personal way

– Build and maintain relationships with collectors, both in person and through ongoing communication– Handle inquiries with professionalism and discretion

– Oversee the day-to-day presentation of artwork in the gallery

– Track incoming and outgoing works and keep internal records up to date

– Share artist knowledge with the team and contribute to internal materials

– Assist with exhibition planning and installation

– Support the overall look and feel of the gallery, inside and out

Pay: $17.50-$26.00 per hour
