About Canopi

Conservation-focused tech NGO; remote marketing internship

Full Description

Mission of Canopi

We believe that AI technology can be used to help restore our ecosystems and provide accountability on the impact.

We believe that we should empower local NGOs and communities with technology and funding so that they can have an impact on their ecosystem.

Who Are the Founders?

Canopi was founded by technology veterans( Sharad Mohan, Trevor Chong, and JC Taunay-Bucalo) who have had multiple successful exits and decided to focus their energy on using AI for impact.

What Do We Do?

Powering experiences: Canopi powers regenerative travel experiences so that travellers from around the world can see, first-hand, the impact restoration projects are having on the ecosystem. This is a full offering including a payment and booking system. Experiences are available on the Canopi platform as well as through NGO partners, and 100% of the revenue goes to the NGO partner.

Coral and tree adoption: Canopi builds the payment and technology infrastructure that enables NGO partners to put corals or trees up for adoption. This includes AI technologies to measure impact — biomass impact and reef health using 3D modeling. Adoption modules are available both on the Canopi platform and embedded on NGO partner sites, with 100% of revenue going to the NGO partner. Anyone can adopt a coral or a tree and watch it grow and help restore the ecosystem.

Large-scale coral restoration projects: Canopi is developing specific expertise to manage large-scale deployment of coral restoration projects. These projects are multi-year and require AI technologies to ensure the ecosystem impact is delivered over the long term. They are always delivered by the local NGO and create sustainable jobs for local communities, with Canopi providing logistical support, technology, and funding — funded by individual or corporate donors.

What Will Be the Responsibilities of the Internship?

Onboarding New NGOs

•   Source NGO partners who could be a great fit for Canopi.

•   Contact these NGOs to explain the value Canopi adds.

•   Coordinate with the founders to get on a call with the NGO.

•   Gather the information needed from the NGO.

•   Implement the NGO on the Canopi platform.

•   Implement Canopi technology on the NGO's website, if required.

•    Objective: 20 active partners worldwide by the end of this year.

Social Media and Partners

•   Reach out to potential partners to expand the reach of the Canopi platform.

•   Specifically target micro-influencers who are aligned with Canopi's thesis and approach.

•   Aim for greater reach by having influencers adopt corals/trees and/or visit our experiences.

•   Canopi is a foundation, so we may cover some costs for these micro-influencers, but we won't pay them — we're looking for people who genuinely align with our philosophy.

•    Objective: 2 collaboration posts per month.

Digital Marketing for NGOs

•   Our NGO partners don't always have the technical skills to onboard the experiences and adoption features.

•   Work on NGO websites to maximize reach of the experiences/adoption modules.

•   Manage the maintenance and updates required for these modules.

•    Objective: drive adoption and experience revenue directly on NGO websites.

Press Relations

•   Reach out to press outlets to build brand awareness for Canopi.

•   Organize logistics for interviews with the Canopi founders.

•    Objective: 2 Press mentions per month.

What Are Your Profile and Skills?

Profile

•   You have a deep passion for conservation, specifically tree and/or coral restoration.

•   You're a go-getter, capable of working independently. Canopi is a small structure, so we need extreme ownership.

•   You're willing to do whatever it takes to help the mission of Canopi. We're still small, so we all need to be nimble.

•   You're comfortable being in the shadows. Our NGO partners are the stars, we're here to empower them, not to do the restoration work ourselves.

Skills

•   Fluent English required; Spanish or French is a bonus.

•   Comfortable with technology, our thesis is that we're the technology engine behind the NGOs, so you'll need to embrace it.

•   Good ability to prospect and build relationships with NGOs.

•   Capable of mid-level digital marketing/technical implementation. You don't need to be an engineer, but you should be comfortable with tools like Lovable.

Key Details

•    Location: Mainly remote, with opportunities to meet in person from time to time

•    Commitment: Ideally full-time; open to part-time for the right candidate

•    Start date: August 1st or September 1st

•    Duration: 3–6 months
